A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
